New Turn of Events
First of all, you should know that I was a person who never ever considered moving to another country, I had everything I always wanted here in India. Great friends, awesome parents, a cool girlfriend, and most of all I loved this place very much. Even though I have traveled to some other countries and had awesome experiences, I always felt I had more back home. After graduation, I was planning to move to a city(preferably Bangalore) with my friends and have a blast while working for some IT firm, but corona changed everything.
Just before graduation, I started working as an Intern for an IT firm in Bangalore. Since the country was on lockdown, the IT sector was completely working from home and so was I. Everything was going well and most of my friends also starting working during this time. I completed my internship and started applying for full-time jobs but nothing clicked. During the next few months, a feeling that nothing much was happening with my life hit me. All I did then was eat, play games, and sleep. But everything changed during the second half of 2020 when someone put the idea of studying abroad in my mind. Being a jobless bored engineer during this global pandemic I decided to give it a try. So after doing some research( watching snowfall videos), I decided Canada would be a good country to go to.
The lockdown was lifted soon and everything was a rush. I did my IELTS, applied to a college, applied for a loan, applied for a visa, did my biometrics, medicals, got affected by Corona, recovered, and finally got everything approved. All that was left was to get my passport stamped and then it was good to go. But then it struck again, the second wave of Corona. The country was forced into lockdown and my plans were screwed.
My classes started online and it was not how I planned for this to go. The online classes were at midnight and trust me it wasn't fun. I had plans to meet new people and make new friends but that was all in the wind now. It almost took me a month to get used to this late-night timetable. Now I was attending classes till six in the morning and waking up in the evening. Life had again become predictable and every day was kinda the same. I was hoping to travel to Canada once the lockdown was lifted but to my bad luck, the Canadian borders were closed for Indians.
The following month some unfortunate events took place. Apart from Canada extending the dates to open their borders, my both grandfathers passed away, and on the same day(what are the odds of that). I was really close to them so it was such a difficult time for me. But looking back I do believe that every experience bitter or sweet teaches you something valuable in life and helps you grow.
The lockdown was lifted next month and Even though I was getting more assignments and works from college, I also started hitting the gym, going on trips, and spending more time with my family and friends. Eventually, the visa stamping services resumed and I got mine stamped. Since there were still no direct flights to Canada, I planned to go through Qatar after a 10-day quarantine in Doha. So I set out my travel last week and here I am sitting in a hotel room, quarantining with my friend, writing about my past year hoping to reach Canada soon.
